Working with seasoned pros is crucial for my uninterrupted training, says Thomas Cup D winner


New Delhi, June 6 (IANS): Dhruv Kapila, the young badminton prodigy and member of the Indian team that won the country’s first-ever Thomas Cup in May 2022, said working with seasoned professionals was crucial for his uninterrupted training.

Young badminton star Dhruv and his doubles partner MR Arjun played a big part in helping them win their first ever Thomas Cup winners trophy.

“It was an absolute honor to represent India at the Thomas Cup and to win it too was a dream come true. The celebrations of this victory are already over and our preparation for the upcoming Championships has begun, and keeping in Mind the schedule it was very important for me to partner with seasoned professionals to take care of my business interests which would play a vital role in fueling my uninterrupted education,” Dhruv said.

“I can confidently say that having such professionals by my side who understand Olympic sports better than anyone, I can comfortably focus on my training for the Commonwealth Games and my other tournaments,” said Dhruv.

Dhruv Kapila, 22, who is currently training at camp for the 2022 Commonwealth Games, caught the eye after his stellar performance at the 2019 South Asian Games winning three gold medals in men’s doubles, mixed doubles and men’s team.

“I still have a lot to learn and being able to contact my senior in sports for advice is something I look forward to on this journey with IOS. I am happy to have IOS by my side and I am sure that ‘they will do their best to help me grow more,’ he said.

Dhruv has decided to partner with a leading sports management company, IOS Sports & Entertainment, to manage its business interests with brands in the run-up to key tournaments this year and in the years to come.

Along with Dhruv, IOS has also included Ishaan Bhatnagar who made news by winning the gold medal in the mixed doubles event with his partner Tanisha at the Syed Modi International 2022 Super 300 event.
