Women’s wrestling team coach receives warm welcome upon return from CWG


Jammu, Aug 09 (UNI) Son of the Ground, Wrestling Coach, Sahil Sharma, who accompanied India’s Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2022 Women’s Wrestling Team received a heroic welcome upon returning from Birmingham here on Tuesday.

Sharma was welcomed by the Jammu and Kashmir Wrestling Association in the form of a rally which culminated in Bajrangi Akhara where a large number of prominent wrestlers, members of different sports associations, congratulated him and decorated it.

Notably, six female Indian wrestlers including Sakshi Malik and Vinesh Phogat (gold medalist) competed in the CWG and won medals for the nation.

His father Pardeep Sharma also became emotional upon receiving him.

Former international wrestler and president of J&K Wrestling Association, Dushyant Sharma said that Sahil Sharma is the former of Bajrangi Akhara and most of the wrestlers in J&K are from the same arena.

Dushyant himself is the first National Games gold medalist for J&K in Puna.

The president, however, wished the coach good luck for his future endeavors.

Former MLC leader and senior BJP official Ashok Khajuria and Deputy Mayor Purnima Sharma also praised the coach.

It is a proud moment for J&K that one of J&K’s wrestling coaches represented India at the CWG in Birmingham as the coach of the Indian women’s wrestling team.
