Why was Justin Langer overlooked for the coaching role?

  • Langer’s strict coaching style created apprehensions in the ECB’s mind.
  • Additionally, England’s new manager of cricket, Rob Key, wants a separate coach for the white ball and red ball duties. Langer was not receptive to the idea.
  • According to reports from The Telegraph and The Guardian, Key has already approached Gary Kristen for a test coaching role
  • The England Cricket Board (ECB) also had reservations that Langer was a good candidate for the role due to the Ben Stokes factor
  • Stokes is expected to be named the next England Test team captain, and Key felt Langer might not be able to strike a deal.

England Test Team Coach: Favorite Gary Kirsten to be next manager, Simon Katich likely to be ASSISTANT

Kristen is the favorite to be named Chris Silverwood’s successor.

The former India and South Africa manager was also set to succeed then England manager Trevor Bayliss in 2019 but lost to Silverwood.

Now ECB is keen to hire Kirsten.

Former Australian cricketer Simon Katich is likely to be hired as Kirsten’s ASSISTANT. Katich has huge experience of country cricket in England. He is currently also the manager of Manchester Originals in The Hundred competition.
