Anil Kumble announced his return as coach of India cricket team | THE DAILY TRIBUNE

ANI | New Delhi

The Daily Tribune –

With Ravi Shastri’s tenure as India coach ending with the upcoming T20 World Cup in UAE and Oman, talks have started in the BCCI Corridor on the way forward. And as fate would have it, former coach Anil Kumble looks like he could be back in the hot seat.

Speaking to ANI, sources familiar with the developments said that while it’s no secret that Kumble did a good job in his first stint, it will also depend on whether the former skipper to get on board a second time before such a movement saw the light of day. of the day.

“While the process is transparent again, it’s no secret that Kumble did a good job with the team. What led to the differences four years ago is no longer a concern now because everyone While he certainly would be a good option, one has to see if he himself agrees to get on board a second time. So his nod would be important as well. But yes, it certainly is. someone who can move the team forward, ”the source said.

Current head coach Shastri’s tenure is set to expire after the upcoming T20 World Cup and the board is unlikely to grant him an extension. It is also unclear whether Shastri himself wants to continue as head coach or not.

It was the Cricket Advisory Board – made up of Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman – that appointed Kumble to coach after Shastri’s first term as head coach.

Kumble had successfully coached the Indian team. But in 2017, everything deteriorated despite a good record as coach of the team led by Virat Kohli. There have been reports that players have expressed reservations about Kumble’s coaching style and ultimately Kumble resigned from his post and Shastri took over.

Kumble is currently involved in the Punjab Kings franchise in the Indian Premier League. Earlier this week, Virat Kohli announced he would be stepping down as Indian T20I skipper after the upcoming World Cup to focus more on his stick. However, he will continue to lead ODI and testing.
